Exclusive. Billie Eilish spoke about the joint injuries she suffered since childhood

The singer, 22, said that she feels like she has been at war with her body for years.

The 22-year-old «Birds of a Feather» singer said in Vogue’s November cover story that she had suffered numerous injuries while performing over the years. She has notably dealt with issues connected to her hypermobility․

«I’ve been in pain since I was nine,» she told the site, adding that she’s been at odds with her body for years. «Growing up, I used to hear folks say, ‘Just wait until you’re older! You’re going to suffer a lot of discomfort! And I remember being enraged.»

Eilish noted that, in addition to the physical challenges, performing in front of thousands of people may be alienating at times.

«I’ve had some really dark times on tour,» she admitted. «For a long time, I treated life as if it were only temporary. Like, yes, I’m touring right now, and it’s kind of awful, but whatever. It will be over. And the truth is, it’s for the rest of my life.

«I didn’t realize I could make touring enjoyable,» she said. «I was really lonely for many years and am no longer interested in it. I want to enjoy both the show and my days.

«Throughout my life, I’ve never been a cheerful person. «I’ve been a joyful person, but not a happy person,» the «Bad Guy» singer confessed in April. «I experience joy and laughter and I can find fun in things, but I’m a depressed person.»

«I hit a turning point,» she explained. «I had this moment where I realized, ‘Oh, my God, I haven’t had fun in seven years.’»

«This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl that I was,» she remarked of her endeavor. «I’ve been grieving her. I’ve been seeking for her everywhere, but it’s as if she’s been drowned out by the world and media. I don’t remember when she left.»
